The Kenedy Chamber would like to thank everyone who made an appearance at our 94th Annual Banquet this past Friday, June 19th. It was a wild success and we had a “full house” with nearly 200 in attendance! We appreciate the support of our members and the community, and would love to see you all at our banquet next year! The chamber would like to publicly announce this year’s recipients of the chamber appreciation awards. This year’s Business of the Year award was proudly given to H-E-B. This large scale company could have implemented themselves anywhere in Texas, and yet they chose our beloved Kenedy. We thank them for giving our community a local grocery store that we can rely on and be proud of. Jared Alewine was the Chamber’s choice to receive their Agriculture of the Year award. He has helped Karnes County immensely since becoming a Texas AgriLife Extension Agent, and he is undoubtedly appreciated and respected by the community for what he has already done and what he will continue to do in this area. Last but not least, the Chamber’s highly esteemed Citizen of the Year award was humbly accepted by Lin Havron. Lin, also known as Coach Havron, was given this award based on his positive mentality while entering a new challenge that was the Athletic Department at Kenedy High School. He has made a difference not only at school, but in the entire community of Kenedy, Texas. He has pushed these kids to excellence and we can only imagine what great work he will do in the future of Kenedy High School.
