Town Topics: “Giving Back to the Community”

During the Kenedy Chamber of Commerce’s 94th Annual Banquet, donations were made to much deserving organizations alongside their presentation of awards. The Chamber decided to double the Runge Chamber of Commerce’s budget for their fireworks show, giving them $3,000. Make sure to go see the spectacle for yourself this Saturday at 9:00 PM in downtown Runge. With double the fireworks, it is sure to be a blast that you won’t want to miss! The Karnes County Humane Organization was given $1,500 for their hard work and positive changes that they have made in our community. Crime Stoppers and Child Welfare were each awarded donations of $5,000. These non-profits are desperately in need of not only funding, but of public exposure. Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards for tips given anonymously that lead to the arrest of criminals. Child Welfare is an organization with a big heart for children, as they do their best to provide these children with basic necessities that we take for granted such as clothing, school supplies and even Christmas presents. The band of Kenedy ISD is growing rapidly much due to the dedication of their director, Clint Bingham, yet they do not have the means to support this expansion. A check was written to the Kenedy ISD Band for $10,000 so that the band will be able to grow and make the changes necessary to be successful in the future. The Kenedy Chamber is a big supporter of the future of our children, and wanted to do whatever they could to help.
